Baby’s Sensitive Skin: Baby Sunscreen
As a parent you want only what is best for you child. You recognize your role as the child’s teacher, comforter and protector. There are a lot of things you need to protect your child from, and one of the big ones that you might not even think much about is the sun.
Babies’ skin is extremely delicate. This is why it is so soft and one of the best things about a baby. Because it is thin and tender it is soft and smooth, but it also makes it very susceptible to damage.
Of course babies, like other people, need to be exposed to sunlight. However, the exposure doesn’t have to be direct and it doesn’t really have to be very lengthy, either. If you will be spending more than a few minutes in the sun you need to be sure to protect the child’s skin from the sun.
The first step to protecting baby’s skin is to have it covered. As we all know, anything covered with clothing simply does not get burned. Cover your baby as much as you can. Even on hot days you can put very light material on your baby to provide protection while also being cool and breathable.
Babies head is certainly the most prone to get sunburned. Since most babies are lacking in the hair department, it is a very good idea to have a sun hat for your child.
Now we come to the parts of the baby that are exposed. The face, arms and even bare little feet are probably the parts that most often go uncovered. For these areas you need to use baby sunscreen.
Sunblock is something we should all be using, especially on days we will spend a lot of time in the sun, but for babies sunscreen is essential. Baby sunscreen differs somewhat from other sunscreens, so be sure to buy one especially for babies.
The formula for this sunscreen is more delicate and is therefore better for sensitive skin, as it will not cause irritation. It also has a high SPF or sun protection factor that provides the best protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays.
Looking after your baby’s skin is part of your job. Your child needs to spend time in the open air, and chances are, she loves it, but you also have to be careful not to expose her to too much sun.
Using this combination of clothing and hats as well as baby sunscreen will allow you to spend plenty of time outside enjoying nature and parks and everything that makes a childhood meaningful. Just keep in mind that your child’s health needs to always come first, and that means looking after the health of her skin, too.
